Since the recent institutional reorganisation, Kino Velenje operates as a part of Velenje festival Institue, which is run by the Municipality of Velenje. The cinema is a part of the
Art Cinema Network, which distributes selected art film production around Slovenia. Today, almost half of the film programme at Kino Velenje comprises of art film production.
During the famous Pika's Festival in Velenje, the cinema organises Pikin kino, a one-week festival of children's and teen films.
