The [[Slavonic Languages Society of Slovenia]] was founded in 1934 by a group of Slovene and Serbo-Croat language professors. Based at the University of Ljubljana's Department of Slavonic Languages and Literature, the Society currently has more than 1,600 members. It is a professional non-profit organisation which organises symposia and meetings, gives out awards to the best teachers of Slav languages and grants subsidies for selected scientific monographs.
