Launched in 1971, the International Folklore Festival is held at Beltinci Castle and park. The programme has always featured folkloric dance and custom demonstrations but has also expanded over the years to include exhibitions, book presentations, folk music evenings, cooking and so on. Special emphasis is given to co-operation with Slovenes living on the other side of the border. The programme has previously featured guest folkloric groups from Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Spain, France, Finland, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Mongolia and Canada, a total of 164 groups presenting around 400 performances.
