The [[Days of Poetry and Wine Medana]] Festival in Goriška Brda next to the Italian border was initiated in 1998 by the Študentska založba Publishing House, turning the small village of Medana into the poetry capital of Europe for a week. The festival hosts the younger generation of poets from European countries. As well as examining the crossing points between poetry and other art forms, the festival features numerous concerts, a selection of Slovene recent films and discussions between authors and local and international publishers on the topic of engaged poetry. There are also choreographic shows, street theatre, a Saturday programme for children, visual and spatial interventions, and wine tasting. A genuine contact has been established between the locals and their guests as full board and private lodging is provided for all guests, along with the expenses relating to the programme (only travel expenses to Ljubljana should be covered by participants). | The [[Days of Poetry and Wine Medana]] Festival in Goriška Brda next to the Italian border was initiated in 1998 by the Študentska založba Publishing House, turning the small village of Medana into the poetry capital of Europe for a week.
