The mixed chamber choir Ljubljanski madrigalisti was originally established in 1991 as a 30-member choir led by Matjaž Šček. Today its conductor is Mateja Kališnik. The choir's repertoire comprises choral music of all periods, primarily Renaissance music and sacred music performed in churches; it also interprets contemporary Slovene compositions (occasionally written specially for the choir) and folk songs. The choir performs around 30 concerts a year, one third of these abroad.

From 2003 to 2010 the conductor was Andreja Martinjak. The choir achieved many successes at that time, the most important ones are first prize in Naša pesem Choral Competition of 2007 and second prize in seventh International Choral Competition Maribor 2008, where they also received a reward for best Slovene choir at the competition.
