Each year the international musicological symposium led by Professor Primož Kuret brings together about 30 musicologists from all over Europe to discuss a new topic. Part of the symposium has been dedicated to examining and studying works and lives of Slovene composers. The concert part begins and ends with the two Slovene orchestras, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra. The so-called ‘Night of Slovene Composers’ - a marathon concert of many first performances of music scores by contemporary Slovene composers - is organised in collaboration with the Slovene Composers' Society. There are also a number of accompanying events, eg round table discussions, exhibitions and book presentations. The programme is usually held at the Franciscan Church, the Slovene Philharmonics Halls, the Knight's Hall at Križanke and Piran City Gallery in Piran-Pirano.
The 20th Slovene Music Days of 2006 (20-23 June) took place within the framework of the Ljubljana Summer Festival and comprised concerts, an international musicological symposium and various round tables.
