Named after Slovene graphic artist, illustrator and caricaturist Hinko Smrekar (1883-1942), the national awards for the best Slovene book illustrators are presented every two years by the [[Union of Slovene Fine Arts Associations (ZDSLU)]] at the [[Biennial of Slovene Book Illustration]].
