The Sculpture Association was founded in 2000 in Ljubljana with the aim of helping artists to realise monumental sculpture projects. The Association has at is disposal two open-air galleries, one in Ljubljana (Gruber Sculpture Gallery in front of the Gruber Palace, National Archive, in Ljubljana) and the other in Maribor, where open-air exhibitions are organised every year. To date the following sculptors have created works for its annual annual exhibitions: Jiři Bezlaj, Giorgio Celiberti, Jožef Vrščaj, Marjan Drev, Lovro Inkret, Lučka Koščak and Tomaž Kolarič. In 2002 the workshop 'Sculpture in Ice' took place in Ljubljana, involving the sculptors I Brunec, L Koščak, T Kolarič, D V Rozman and students from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. The exhibitions were accompanied by essays by Slovene sociologists and philosophers such as Lev Kreft, Darko Štrajn and Aleš Erjavec. The Association organised several group exhibitions held at Ljubljana Town Hall and in Maribor.
