Unlike some other summer festivals of its kind, Flow is a distinctively urban festival and while the programme is centered around music, this is coupled with the festivals well established focus on arts and lifestyle dimensions. While the former is represented by the artist Jaša, who is setting up a companion piece to the one he exhibited at the Venice Biennial 2015, and by a collaboration with various video artists, the latter is tackled with a selection of food stalls by acclaimed restaurants, a varied high end wine and beer selection and a creative industries fair with also a discussion on this topic.
Venue
One of the attractions of the festival is the use of the vast, mostly unused former Tobacco Factory (Tobačna) grounds. To be expanded into the Tobačna City (Tobačna mesto) architectural and urbanistic project, this area is already hosting the Tobacco Museum, Tobačna 001 Cultural Centre, Poligon Creative Centre and Cirkulacija 2 and is as such in the process of being spontaneously transformed in another urban cultural hub of Ljubljana. This wholesale transformation of the area into the festival grounds is a pioneering appropriation of the area.
