Annales, Annals for Istrian and Mediterranean Studies (until 1994 its subtitle was Annals of the Koper Littoral and Neighbouring Regions) is a quarterly magazine (two issues of historia naturalis series and two issues from historia et sociologia series) published since 1991 in Koper. It focuses on the humanities and social sciences, multicultural and multi-ethnic relations and natural history topics, primarily ecology and biology. Its founder and original publisher was from 1991 on when issued for the first time, the History Society of the Primorska - Koper Region. In 1994 the Scientific and Research Center of the Republic of Slovenia in Koper (http://www.zrs-kp.si) was set up; it began to operate in 1996 and has from then on been a co-publisher of the Annales Journal.
