Members
The sextet of clarinets is a unique ensemble in Slovenia as it comprises Slovenia's third generation of musicians, who play a wide range of wind instruments including the standard orchestral B flat and A clarinets, alto clarinet, basset horn, the smaller E flat clarinet, and the largest bass and contrabass clarinets. The group is currently led by the clarinettist of the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, professor at the Academy of Music and member of the Ariart Woodwind Quintet, Jože Kotar. All of the sextet's musicians combine performing and teaching careers and collaborate with many Slovene orchestras such as the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra.
Performances and repertoire
The Slovene Clarinet Sextet mostly presents a contemporary music repertoire though it also plays arrangements of classical music pieces. It has performed and recorded in Slovenia, Italy, Serbia, and Montenegro. Their repertoire includes works by 20th-century composers such as Yvonne Desportes and Raymond Loucheur, as well as contemporary Slovene composers such as Bojan Glavina, Larisa Vrhunc, and Ivo Petrić.
Discography
The Discography Unit, RTV Slovenia released a CD entitled Family containing the sextet's performances of works by Raymond Loucheur and Marc Eychenne among others.
