The '[[Ex Ponto International Festival]] was launched in 1993 by the [[B-51 Cultural Society]]. The Society's work has been rooted from the outset in a strong humanistic, political and social foundation, attempting by means of cultural exchanges and international co-productions to maintain connections with other parts of the former Yugoslavia and South-Eastern Europe. Connections and joint venture projects with prominent festivals in these regions still represent a specific feature of ''Ex Ponto'' today.

Projects are presently confined to the spheres of theatre and visual arts, but will in future also encompass film. The festival presents to the inhabitants of Ljubljana and guests at least 10 domestic and foreign productions, plus a range of projects aimed at further enhancing and promoting intercultural exchange which - in relation to EU enlargement - has proven to be of major significance. The 2007 ''Ex Ponto's'' theme was ''Theatre and Politics''.
