Virtualni vodnik po slovenskih muzejih in galerijah - burger.si

The Virtual Guide to Slovene Museums and Galleries website comprises virtual reality panoramic views and a virtual guide with Slovenian and English information about 106 Slovene museums, galleries, and museum sites. Sites can be picked from an interactive map of Slovenia. Panoramas show detailed interiors and exteriors of sites and objects, also 360 degrees panoramas which are interactive so that the viewer can walk through exhibitions, zoom in to and out of objects, etc.

The Virtual Guide is a personal project of photographer Boštjan Burger who has made over 4,000 java VR panoramas and over 1,400 full screen QTVR panoramas on his website, Burger.si. Among the Slovenian landmarks, along with museum and galleries sites, one can also see castles, churches, town landscapes, waterfalls, karst caves, mountains, public events, wellness and spa destinations, and ski centres. Various other world landmarks are shown from Egypt, Croatia, France, Argentina, Brazil ... as well. The website consists of more than 10,000 VR panoramic photos. The project has the goal to display the cultural and natural heritage of our planet with interactive VirtualRealityPanoramas and was initiated in year 1996.

About

Boštjan Burger founder of the Burger.si website retired as computer programmer in the 1990s to become a geographic researcher on the hydrology of waterfalls. He used VR panoramas as a tool in the research of landscapes. He was greatly influenced by geographer Don Bain for documenting the landscape with VR panoramas and Hans Nyberg for his use of Quick Time VR fullscreen panoramas.
