Background
Nukleus Film Slovenia is a film production company and a part of Nukleus Association, founded in 2003 in Zagreb, Croatia, by Siniša Juričić, a Croatian film producer. In 2009, Juričić established Nukleus Film Croatia, which in the past years has become a regional production company whose films, documentaries and short films crossed the regional borders, and were shown at important festivals, such as Cannes, Berlin and Sundance, and TV stations, such as ARTE, WDR and HBO. In 2012, together with film director, production designer and screenwriter Miha Knific, he established Nukleus Film Slovenia as Nukleus’s new outpost.
Production
Nukleus Film Slovenia has produced or coproduced many acclaimed and successful films, such as the docufiction – mockumentary film Houston, We Have a Problem (2016) by director Žiga Virc, The Miner (2017) by director Hanna A.W. Slak, a feature fiction film Perseverance (2017) by director Miha Knific, and a short fiction film The Final Day of Rudolf Nietsche (2018) by director Blaž Kutin. Nukleus Film Slovenia is also a coproducer of a horror movie Motel Acacia, directed by Bradley Liew, which had its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan in 2019.
Awards
The films produced by Nukleus Film Slovenia are the recipients of many awards and have always been a part of international film scene. For example, the movie Houston, We Have a Problem premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. It was also selected as the Slovenian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards but it was not nominated. It was the recipient of three Vesna Awards at the Slovenian Film Festival and an Audience Award at the Mediterranean Film Festival.

Hanna A.W. Slak received for her movie The Miner the Vesna Award for best directing at the Slovenian Film festival and a host of other awards, besides, the film was also selected as the Slovenian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
The Perseverance movie by Miha Knific received Vesna Award for the best experimental film, two Vesna Awards for the best supporting roles at the Festival of Slovenian Film, and Štigličev pogled Award for the best directing. It also won the Eurimages Lab Projects Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The Final Day of Rudolf Nietsche by Blaž Kutin won Vesna Award for best short movie at the Festival of Slovenian Film.
Animation
In 2021 the 10 day film workshop led by Miha Knific and Zoe Matzko resulted in the animated film The War of the Worlds, directed by Rok Mlinar, coproduced by Kinodvor Cinema and Nukleus Film Slovenia.
