The Social Activities Department of Medvode Municipality is responsible for social and health care, education and sports as well as for public culture and cultural heritage preservation. Medvode has four castles, two of which - Goričane Castle and Lazarini Mansion in Valburga - are municipal institutions. The Medvode Union of Cultural Societies and the Youth Centre Medvode, organiser of a traditional festival, play an active organisational role in municipal cultural affairs. The local branches of the Union of Cultural Societies of Slovenia (ZKDS) and the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia (JSKD) facilitate the activities of numerous local cultural organisations with about 400 members.
