Launched by Postojna Youth Centre in 1997 as a two-day festival, Zmaj 'ma mlade Festival now takes place annualy for at least two weeks in August at various venues in the city centre of Postojna. It is organised by Postojna Youth Centre and sponsored by Postojna Students' Club, Municipality of Postojna and lately, due to lack of resources, also by Društvo podpornikov Zmaj 'ma mlade (»Festival's supporters association«), which consists of Postojna's residents who financially support the festival. It offers visitors days full of culture and entertainment, plus pleasant holiday evenings in the town centre. The festival is an important complement to the cultural programmes of the city of Postojna.

The program is thematically divided according to the days of the week. Some days are divided regarding music flavours, covering world music, jazz to pop-rock, and regarding other cultural events, such as theatre performances, art exhibitions, children workshops and sport activities.

History

The festival was launched to spice up Postojna's summer social life and to promote youth organisations in Postojna, especially Postojna Youth Centre. By the year 2001, as it was well received and anticipated among the residents and wider spectre of visitors, the festival was prolonged to a whole month and continued to be such until 2010. Due to municipality's cut down on sponsorship, the festival has been shortened to two weeks.
