{Teaser| Presenting an international selection of garage rock'n'roll acts since 2005, the Garage Explosion Festival is taking place at the Pekarna Cultural Centre. It has fast made it's name by a profiled and consistent line-up. Besides extending it's audiences musical horizons, it also serves as a platform for international musical and organizational networking and provides opportunities for younger bands to gain stage experiences. As such it has contributed much to the Maribor rock scene and it's protagonists.
The event itself lasts only one day but is traditionally prolonged by the Garage Afterparty which is (usually) set in MKNŽ club in Ilirska Bistrica. It hosts a partial selection of the main festivals line up, giving the bands more stage time then the packed time table of the main event allows. In some years there is also the "Garage Foreplay" that also presents some of the artists that will feature on the Garage Explosion itself. In 2008, the Foreplay was organized in Menza pri Koritu in Ljubljana, thus directly addressing the audiences from central Slovenia as well. }}
Programme
Musicians that are featured on the Garage Explosion stage are predominantly but not exclusively based in ex-Yugoslavia countries. Some of them are for instance The Bambi Molesters (Croatia), Damir Avdič (Bosnia), Erotic Biljan & his Heretics (Croatia), DMT (Serbia), Concrete Worms (Serbia) etc. A few of the notable bands from Slovenia are Muškat Hamburg (they are actually a part of the group that organizes the festival), Res Nullius, Dicky B. Hardy, Tavžntroža. There were also guests from other EU countries and even the USA garage rock legends The Morlocks.
