Background
The study of English language and literature at the Department for Germanic languages has a fairly long tradition at the Faculty of Arts. Only recently the department became independent and is one of 22 departments at the faculty.
Until 2010 the study lasted for 4 years study programme at the Bachelor level, now the three-year BA and two-year MA study corresponds to the recent Bologna study reform.
The Department is enrolled in publishing two academic journals: annual journal Acta Neophilologica since 1968 and ELOPE - English Language Overseas Perspectives and Enquiries journal since 2004.
