Background
The study of English language and literature at the Department for Germanic languages has a fairly long tradition at the Faculty of Arts. Only recently the department became independent and is one of 22 departments at the faculty.

The Department is enrolled in publishing two academic journals: annual journal Acta Neophilologica since 1968 and ELOPE - English Language Overseas Perspectives and Enquiries journal since 2004. The department has its own library fond at the department's library.
