In September 2006 the former Academy of Education (Pedagoška akademija) of the [[University of Maribor]] was transformed into three faculties: the [[Faculty of Arts]], the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Faculty of Education. The Faculty of Education is organised into five departments: Music, Visual Arts, Pre-School (Nursery) Education, Class Teaching (first three years of elementary school when all subjects are taught by one teacher) and Sport Trainers Education (for selected sports disciplines).
