The fluid and ever-changing collective under the name Symbolic Orchestra first appeared in 2003, when they were an eleven-piece band under the guidance of Bojan Cvetrežnik. Since than, they also often played as a duo (and trio, quartet and so on), and produced a pan-European musical melange that feeds from a myriad of trans-historical musical expressions. Yet, the musicians themselves are mostly classical graduated string player.

The band cooperated and co-opted a number of musicians (actually, more than a hundred of them, coming from 15 different countries altogether), toured around Slovenian and the world with the group Terrafolk, and also provisionally merged themselves with the Swedish-Slovenian band Ida & The bears. They collaborated with Svetlana Makarovič as well.

The band also collaborates in workshops (both for children as well as grown-ups), which they organise together with One Music Society.

Performances

Symbolic Orchestra had countless gig on the streets all around Europe. Alongside, they played at Layer's House, One Music Salon, Cankarjev dom, Prulček bar, Hostel Celica, Kosovel Culture House Sežana, Slovene Philharmonic, Slovene National Theatre Drama Ljubljana, Zlati zob Ethno club, Kamfest, HISTeRIA Festival, Sanje festival, etc. They also repeatedly took the stage in France (for example, at Studio de l’ermitage), Italy, Croatia and Belgium.

The band has not been very active recording their music, though some of their music was released.
