Valvasor Award
Background
Valvasor award is given for lifetime achievement in the museum field and for outstanding contributions to conservation, presentation and popularization of movable natural and cultural heritage in Slovenia and abroad.
In addition, the society also recognises important achievements in the museology in the past year, Valvasor honorary recognition is also awarded to special merit in popularizing museology and movable cultural heritage and for significant grants of sponsors to museums and galleries.
Commission following a call for Valvasor award and recognition makes the selection of winners of the preceding calendar year. The awards are by the rule given on the eve of International Museum Day, on 18th of May. Ceremony is accompanied by occasional cultural program in one of museums in Ljubljana.
