Based on mobility, inter-disciplinarity, participation, the Celeia Institute - Centre for Contemporary Arts runs since 2005 the AiR Celeia Celje Artist-in-Residence programme for international artists and curators with the aim of building a dialogue and cooperation between foreign and local artists as well as between art and the broader community. The call for application is published annual, usually in the beginning of the year. In 2010 the dead line for the on-line application was 31st March.

Since its establishing 3 residents took part of the programme. In 2010 the AiR Celeia Celje offers two-month residency between the 10th May and 10th July to contemporary artists, experienced in the public art projects with the preference of working interdisciplinary in the cross-section between visual art, design and architecture.

Artist of the residency is provided with free accommodation in the Air Celeia studio apartment and get the possibility of either presenting or exhibiting their work in the public spaces in the city of Celje. The Programme helps the artists with the stipend up to 600 euros monthly depending on the application. The residents must fund all their living expenses and traveling costs.

The AIR programme is in the phase of the professionalisation. Among others there are intentions to bring the programme on the bilateral exchange level, so to cooperate with other residency programmes in Europe and world wide.
