In April 2005 the Aula Cervantes, a branch of the Instituto Cervantes (IC) network, was opened in Ljubljana. Its establishment was based on the agreement signed between King Juan Carlos of Spain and the University of Ljubljana. Aula Cervantes in Ljubljana offers a reading room and a library containing literature, textbooks and multimedia items. A computer room is available for the Instituto Cervantes' method of Spanish language learning via computer and AV tools. Proficiency courses are organised for Spanish language teachers in Slovenia, who can also be engaged through the virtual Cervantes centre (http://cvc.cervantes.es). Aula organises acknowledged DELE exams on the Spanish language and also co-operates with Slovene educational institutions that offer Spanish classes, especially those within the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. Spanish films are screened and thematic discussions organised to facilitate language learning.
