Mladika Publishing House with its seat in Trieste was established alongside Mladika, a monthly Slovenian-language magazine published since 1957. Ever since, they have been issuing fiction, poetry, children literature, historical works, dictionaries, and handbooks. Particular effort is invested in publishing and promoting Slovene authors living in Trieste and elsewhere in Italy, such as Boris Pahor, Alojz Rebula, and Miroslav Košuta. To make Slovene literature and culture more accessible to the Italian readership, Mladika also publishes works in Italian. Vstajenje ("Resurrection") is a literary award presented by Mladika to recognise outstanding literary works by Slovene authors that live in neighbouring and other foreign countries.
