Viva - Zagorje Youth Wind Orchestra
International recognition
The town Zagorje, situated in central Slovenia, was the home town of world renowned conductor Carlos Kleiber, who visited the orchestra's rehearsal in 1997. The world-famous virtuoso flute player James Galway paid a visit to the orchestra in 1996. The Orchestra has performed in Hartberg, Graz, Tieschen, Voelkermarkt (Austria); Livorno, Riva del Garda, Azzano Deccimo (Italy); Ostrava (Czech Republic); Larvik (Norway); and Chicago (USA). The Orchestra successfully resented Slovene musical culture around the world with performances which include Slovene musical works. In Chicago the Orchestra played with two well-known Slovene soloists: clarinettist, member of the Clarinet Sextet and Ariart, teacher at the Zagorje Music School Jože Kotar and flautist, member of the MD7 Contemporary Music Ensemble Matej Zupan.
