Launched in 1996 as a successor to the former Glasbena mladina (GL) magazine (1970-1996), Muska was a high-quality music magazine which contains interviews, articles on music theory, and concert, festival and CD news and reviews. Following the closure of Rock Vibe, it was the only reguler music magazine in Slovenia.

In december 2009 it was defunct by Glasbena Mladine Slovenije after 13 years of ongoing struggles and dedicated authorship. Instead of Muska new magazine Glasna was established with the new appointed editorial staff. Its content is more local and "high-browed".

In May 2010 internet music magazine Nova Muska was established by former writers and editorial staff of Muska and founded by Society for the Study of Popular Music.
