Slovenj Gradec Culture House features facilities for presenting theatre pieces (hosting performances by Slovene theatre houses on Fridays and puppetry performances on Saturdays), concerts (annual cycles of concerts in collaboration with Hugo Wolf Association on Thursdays), films (art films are screened on Mondays and films for youth on Tuesdays) and is available for a variety of presentations. As a cinema hall Slovenj Gradec Culture House is a member of the Art Cinema Network, which distributes selected high-quality films around Slovenia.

Programme overview

Since its inception in 1983 the Culture House hosted musicians and classical concerts by Dubravka Tomšič Srebotnjak, Irena Grafenauer, James Morrison, Marjana Lipovšek, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, and many others. The venue also hosts and organises the Slovenj Gradec Summer festival [Slovenjegraško poletje], which hosts regional cultural associations and remains the main cultural attraction of the season in the town and the region Koroška.

As a partner town of Maribor, European Capital of Culture 2012, Slovenj Gradec focused on the famous citizen, composer Hugo Wolf. In 2012 the renovated museum and a documentation centre devoted to Hugo Wolf were opened and the first international workshop on classical solo singing was organised.
