When Radio Študent Records were set up by Radio Student in 2008, this was in a way both a logical and a necessary step. It was logical as a continuation of its four decades long involvement in the Slovenian musical scene as a promoter, evaluator and selector of those musical genres and forms, whose aesthetics in one way or another went against the grain of the general taste. It was also necessary, as the times are rather bad for commercially viable recording, publishing and promoting alternative music and as such were calling for this intervention onto the publishing field.
