The Slovene Association of Urban and Space Planners is a voluntary independent and non-profit organisation with a membership of just over 170 from all parts of Slovenia. Its aim is to develop exchange opportunities, professional information and professional standards both in-country and internationally. The Association is a member of the European Council of Town Planners (ECTP), and its current Board President is a member of ECTP's Executive Board. In 2002 Maribor received an ECTP Honourable Mention for its urban planning efforts.
