Stari Pisker ("Old Pot") got the name when building of former Minorite monastery was reshaped into penitentiary in 19th century. It is now During the Second World War the German occupation forces committed many war crimes against civilians, executing 374 hostages at the Stari pisker ('old pot') Prison. In 1965 the prison was opened as a memorial site, with a memorial courtyard and a memorial room in the former torture-chamber. The exhibition was renovated in 1995.
