Prežihov Voranc and Leopold Suhodolčan Memorial Room
The Prežihov Voranc collection presents all the Slovene issues of his works plus translations into many foreign languages. It also comprises draft designs for his monument, books which deal with his work and a photo-reportage on his life and achievements - see also Prežihov Voranc Cottage.
The Leopold Suhodolčan collection was opened on the 70th anniversary of the birth of this popular youth writer, who co-initiated a programme of reading medals for schoolchildren. The showcases contain all the Slovene issues of his works and reprints, plus accessible translations into 14 languages (among them Chinese). Family photographs present the most characteristic periods in the writer's life. The heroes of Suhodolčan's works are presented in original illustrations by Marjanca Jemec - Božič (Hi, konjiček) and Jelka Reichman (Dvanajst slonov). The exhibited watercolours reveal Suhodolčan's ventures into painting. The collection concludes with a selection of his major awards.
