The TV Production Unit is responsible for the two national channels TV Slovenia 1 and TV Slovenia 2 and the two regional television channels TV Koper-Capodistria and TV Maribor - Tele M. Its overall output, which includes national programmes, regional programmes, local programmes for the Italian and Hungarian minority communities and special programmes for foreign audiences amounts to approximately 18,400 minutes of television programming each year. The overall share of TV Slovenia 1 and 2 exceeds those of individual commercial competitors.
According to the RTV Law passed in November 2005, Television Slovenia is required to broadcast high-quality, informative, cultural, educational and entertaining programmes. TV Slovenia 1 is the main informative programme which also airs TV film premieres, important reports, panel discussions and documentaries, whereas TV Slovenia 2 broadcasts mostly entertainment and educational programmes (TV series, quizzes, youth programmes) as well as afternoon repeats of popular evening programmes. Both channels are broadcast via the Eutelsat Hot Bird 3 satellite, 13 degrees east, transponder 80, 12302, 880 MHz, polarisation Y, coding system Viaccess.
