MD7 Contemporary Group Ensemble was established in 2001 and performs above all contemporary chamber music. It was named by the Festival Musica Danubiana (MD), later renamed in Unicum Contemporary Music Festival, and the number 7 represent seven instruments: flute, clarinet, trombone, viola, violoncello, keyboard and percussion. The majority of the ensemble's repertoire consists of the new works which were written especially. Pieces for ensemble were written by many distinguished home and foreign composers (L. Lebič, I. Petrić, G. Coral, S. Lerescu, A. Laporte, J.-L. Darbelley, J. Golob). The Ensemble performs in Slovenia and also abroad (Vienna, Trieste, Bucharest, Dublin, Seoul). Its artist leader is composer Pavel Mihelčič and its conductor Steven Loy.
