The Library of the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at theUniversity of Ljubljana was established in 1945 and today represents one of the central and most important specialised libraries for the fields of Ethnology, Social and Cultural Anthropology, and Folklore Studies.
In addition to materials housed in the library's collection, additional documentation and information can be found in the the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology's EtnoInfoLab, short for Ethnographic Information Laboratory. This database contains photos, slides, press clippings, and texts pertaining to the ethnic regions of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia covering a period from the end of the 19th century to today. Intended strictly for non-commercial and academic purposes, researchers and other interested parties may browse the contents of the EtnoInfoLab online.
The library holds more than 21,000 units, and subscribes to around 80 Slovene and international specialised journals and magazines. In addition to Slovene ethnological and anthropological literature, classic foreign literature on the Balkans, European and non-European countries is available in the library.
