The first editon of the Winter Days of Metal Festival was held in the Danica Hall in Bohinjska Bistrica in March . A small Alpine village in a mesmerising Bohinj valley hosted the second edition in early February 2018, and the third one in late November 2018.
The line-ups introduced the Alestorm, Boembers, Batushka, Marduk, Nox Vorago, Valkyria, Skálmöld, Valuk, etc.
In 2017, an experienced team, already organizing the biggest Slovene music festival MetalDays, decided to establish its winter edition, the Winter Days of Metal Festival. A multi-day festival hosts renowned and underground bands and performers of metal music and its subgenres, and takes place in lovely surroundings of Bohinj valley, next to mystic Bohinj Lake, just under the arm of Slovenia's highest mountain Triglav, in a small Alpine village Bohinjska Bistrica. The first edition of the festival welcomed metal-heads from all over the world in March 2017, the second was organized at the end of January 2018, and the third one in late November 2018. As the festival combines pleasure in metal music with fun in winter sports and relax, its motto is enjoying the real winter holidays together with your favourite music.
Programme
The first, five-day edition of the Winter Days of Metal Festival was held in the Danica Hall in Bohinjska Bistrica in March 2017, and the line-up of 25 bands – such as Total Annihilation, Tomcat, Destruction, Belphegor, Flotsam and Jetsam, Rotting Christ, Holy Moses, etc. – offered a varied event for all metal tastes.
The line-up for the 2nd, three-day edition of the festival at the end of January 2018, also in the Danica Hall, introduced Arkona, Asphxy, Carnage Calligraphy, Dropkick Murphys, Gaahls Wyrd, Hour of Penance, Ritual Day, etc. The line-up for the 3 rd , also three-day edition of the festival at the end of November 2018 and also in the Danica Hall, introduced the Alestorm, Boembers, Batushka, Marduk, Nox Vorago, Valkyria, Skálmöld, Valuk, etc. "Good sound and light show. Pleasant, domestic festival atmosphere. Beer. Food. Great concerts. This little Winter Days of Metal Festival has everything that big festivals" wrote the journalist of the online metal magazine Paranoid Zine. After three editions, the community of Winter Days of Metal Festival-goers is already shaping up. "It is lovely to see familiar faces every year", the organizers of the festival conclude.
