The Desetnica Award is an accolade given by the Slovene Writers’ Association each year to one of its members for the best children's or youth literary work published in the last 3 years. Established in 2004, the name derives from the folklore character of the "tenth daughter", who was banned from the homestead, and thus had to rely on herself and also developed special gifts. The award amount of €3,000 is donated by Izolit Publishing House. Award winners include: Vinko Möderndorfer (2014), Janja Vidmar (2013), Feri Lainšček (2012), Milan Dekleva (2011), Bina Štampe Žmavc (2011), Dim Zupan (2010), and Marjana Moškrič (2009).
