In 2003 Exodos Institute launched the competitive contemporary dance festival named Gibanica (Moving Cake) Festival of Slovene Dance. Since 2011 the festival is managed by the Contemporary Dance Association Slovenia. Held in Ljubljana, the festival showcases most of the outstanding works of the previous 2 seasons, which then compete for the Gibanica (Moving Cake) Festival of Slovene Dance Award for best dance performance. The 2011 edition of the festival took place from 24 through 27 February.

The award for best performance awarded by an international expert jury was received by Andreja Rauch (2007) and Janez Janša (2009). The festival also presents an audience award for best performance. Recently it was awarded to Branko Potočan (2007), Snježana Premuš (2009) and Rosana Hribar and Gregor Luštek for DUET 012 (2011).
