The Ormož unit of the Ptuj – Ormož Regional Museum carries out its activities in the field of archaeology, ethnology, cultural history, history, and gallery-exhibition activities. It is located in the Ormož Castle. In 2011 the award-winning renovation of the adjacent building was completed. It houses the Ormož Music School, a new multipurpose hall, and the ethnological and archaeological museum collections, and has turned the Ormož Castle into an outstanding cultural centre.
Administration
The Ormož Museum was established in 2005 by the Municipality of Ormož with the separation of the Ormož unit from the Ptuj Regional Museum. Since the municipality did not manage to cover all the costs, the Ormož Museum was again merged with the Ptuj Regional Museum in 2009. The new museum was named Ptuj – Ormož Regional Museum.
