The Architects' Society of Ljubljana (DAL) has been serving the professional interests of its 370 plus members since 1997, primarily in dealings with relevant state and municipal governmental structures. As a professional association for architects and citizens, it provides current information about local and international tenders, competitions, prizes and educational events as well as legal advice. The DAL is the co-founder of the renowned Plečnik Award, which is awarded each year by the Plečnik Fund. Since 1972, it has also published Architects' Bulletin (ab), an international magazine on architecture and architectural theory.

Since 2007, the offices of the Architects' Society of Ljubljana have also functioned as the headquarters of the revived Union of Slovene Architects' Societies.

Exhibitions and projects

Every two years DAL presents member projects at the exhibition Arhitektura–Inventura (Architecture–Stocktaking) held at Cankarjev dom.

A series of exhibitions and lectures entitled Visions presents the association's views and readings of the architectural development of Ljubljana. The 14th edition of the series was organised at the Kresija Gallery in November 2019.

In 2006, DAL launched the project "20th-Century Architectural Heritage" in collaboration with the TrajekT, Institute for Spatial Culture with the aim of promoting and protecting modern monuments. The blue and white information plates (containing information on the name of the building, its authors, and the year of construction) that are used worldwide to mark cultural heritage sites were placed at selected properties, indicating that they are included in the campaign. See also Architectural Guide.
