The association consists of 54 Slovene public and 7 private music schools with the concession of the Ministry of Culture, therefore it represents the union of 61 music schools which educate pupils under the music and ballet programme at the primary and secondary school levels. Cooperation
The Association of Slovene Music Schools has closely collaborated with the Ministry of Education and Sport, the National Education Institute (Zavod RS za šolstvo) and other related organisations to conceive modifications and elaborations of the umbrella act about the governance of music schools, passed in Spring 2000.
Members of the association participate in the national committees entrusted with the execution of new school curricula and cooperate with the Academy of Music, the Association of Principals of Elementary Schools, the Society of Slovene Composers, and other organisations in the training of teachers and principals.
The association collaborates with the Commission for Music and Ballet Competitions (TEMSIG) to improve national competition rules.
The Association of Slovene Music Schools organises educational trips in order to get acquainted with overseas educational systems. It is also a member of the European Music Schools Union (EMU).
