==Course of competition==
Following an opening concert, each year around 20 choirs compete for gold, silver, and bronze plaques and diplomas at four competition concerts, which usually culminate in a final concert by the best choirs. After each concert, a so called ''CEZURA! Time for choral talk'' is organised. It is usually led by recognised conductors and the conversation usually covers choral trends, preparations for the competition, international competitions, concert programmes, and so on. There are 5 jury members each year, 3 of them are Slovene.

Launched in 1989 by the Maribor branch office of the Public Fund for Cultural Activities (JSKD - Javni sklad RS za kulturne dejavnosti), the Naša pesem (Our song) choral competition is a national event held annually with the support of the Municipality of Maribor. In 1992, the organizers extended the competition to the international level. The competition was then upgraded with the International Choral Competition Gallus, with which it alternates every two years.

Course of competition

Each year, around 20 Slovenian choirs (composed of at least 12 singers) and vocal groups (composed of at least 4 and no more than 12 singers) compete for gold, silver, and bronze plaques, as well as special diplomas with monetary prizes. Singers are only allowed to participate in the choir on an amateur (non-professional) basis, while conductors can be professional musicians. The performances of the ensembles are judged by a five-member jury, consisting of three national and two international members.
