+ | DSS Editions, founded in established::1954, are the publishing arm of the Society of Slovene Composers (DSS), which was itself established nine years earlier in 1945. The DSS is a voluntary professional association of Slovenian composers that exists to protect the legal interests of its members, represent and promote Slovenian composers at home and abroad, and promote and organise concerts of contemporary classical music from Slovenia. These aims are supported by recordings and sheet music published on a regular basis by DSS Editions. | ||

History
Before DSS Editions came into being as an independent entity in 1954, the society's publishing activities were carried out in collaboration with DZS, the state publishing house. In 1972 they acquired the right to represent several major music publishers in Slovenia, including Peters, Breitkopf & Härtel, Schott, Universal, Boosey & Hawkes, Schirmer and Ricordi.
Main activities
DSS Editions are the most important sheet music publisher in Slovenia, with close to 1,900 printed compositions to their name. In 2003 they added the Muzicije DSS digital sheet music series to their operation, greatly reducing costs for composers and performers alike. Equally if not more important are the CDs published under Ars SlovenicA imprint. Around five are published annually, with each CD devoted to the work of a single Slovenian composer. This series replaced the earlier Musica Slovenica series of vinyl records, which began in 1970.
