The [[Brewery Museum]] was founded in 1986 by the Union Brewery. The material was collected by workers who wanted to preserve objects and documentation related to beer brewing. Some of the objects were donated to the museum by workers from their private collections, while others were contributed by other breweries in the former Yugoslavia, by the Institute for Hop Growing and Beer Brewing in Žalec and by publicans. For the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage in its museum, the Union Brewery received as part of the 1989 European Museums of the Year competition a special award from the Council for Cultural Co-operation of the Council of Europe. The permanent exhibition consists of a presentation of the history of the Union Brewery from 1864 onwards and a presentation of the procedures of making and marketing beer, showing the cultivation of hops, the standard ingredient of beer, the malt house, the mashhouse, the fermenting and lager cellars, filtration, the bottling plant, the barrel store, transportation, pub furnishings, labels and advertising.
