Mladika Publishing House with its seat in Trieste/Trst was established alongside Mladika, a monthly Slovenian-language magazine published since 1957. Ever since, they have been issuing fiction, poetry, children's literature, historical works, dictionaries, and handbooks. Particular effort is invested into publishing and promoting Slovene authors living in Trieste and elsewhere in Italy, such as Boris Pahor, Alojz Rebula, and Miroslav Košuta. To make Slovene literature and culture more accessible to the Italian readership, Mladika also publishes works in Italian. Vstajenje ("Resurrection") is a literary award presented by Mladika to recognise outstanding literary works by Slovene authors who live in neighbouring and other foreign countries.
