Cultural cooperation
In 2012 Republic of Slovenia and Japan celebrated the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations as the legal basis for cooperation in culture, education, and science between Slovenia and Japan was adopted in 1992 and was part of the succession of the former republic of Yugoslavia. Slovenia as a member of Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) also promotes mutual exchange between two regions, including both Slovenia and Japan.
