In 2009 the first Slovenia Press Photo Festival (SPP) took place in National Gallery of Slovenia. This competitive festival was established by SPP Institute for Promotion of Photography in order to promote the press and documentary photography in Slovenia. The competition on a national level concludes with an exhibition of the awarded works, selected by an international jury of prominent experts (Christopher Morris, Adriana Zehbrauskas, Murad Sezer, Oded Balilty, and Heidi Levine in 2010).
