Established in 1949 following the merger of two libraries, the Kamnik Public Library, covers the municipalities of Kamnik and Komenda. It runs branches in Komenda and Šmarca, a bookmobile, and mobile library material collections at nursing homes. In 2015 the library was renamed as France Balantič Public Library Kamnik.

Jesenice Municipal Library was established in 1954, though the roots of librarianship in this region reach back to the 19th century. It constitutes one of the most important information and cultural centres of the region, running eight branches in Jesenice, Hrušica, Javornik-Koroška Bela, Kranjska Gora, Dovje-Mojstrana, Rateče, Gozd-Martuljek, and Žirovnica.
