Since 1986 the Society has bestowed Murko Special Mention (the first recipients being Vilko Novak and Niko Kuret in 1988), followed by Murko Credentials (since 1996) for continuous popularisation of ethnological knowledge and Murko Awards (since 1999). The latter recognises the lifetime scientific achievements (in the recent years bestowed to Damjan J. Ovsec, Vito Hazler and Marija Kozar-Mukič).
