Culture.si offers up to date Address book that can be searched by the region, discipline or type, image and logo banks that you can download and use according to the specific licences. The photos were obtained by the Slovene photographers via Slovenia Press Photo Festival, by Slovene producers and institutions, and some were found on Internet (free licences).
The main content on the Culture.si portal are some 2,400 original and structured articles on Slovene culture. They are tagged with over 400 different categories so that many useful lists can be obtained, for example: Brass band music, Comic art exhibition organisers, Cultural management web resources, Dance residencies, Embassies and consulates in Slovenia, Film periodicals, Literature venues, Museum libraries, Music festival organisers, New media art festivals, Recording studios, Theatre research, Visual arts awards, etc.
Culture.si publishes previously unavailable announcements of Slovene artist featuring worldwide and offers information on main international events in Slovenia (Upcoming events) with links to relevant articles and selected external links on programmes. The events are displayed selectively on thematic portal pages.
Culture.si portal is based on the experience with the Cultural Profiles databases project managed by Visiting Arts. From 2002 till 2007 Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia in partnership with British Council Slovenia actively supported the establishment and maintainance of Slovenia Cultural Profile, a comprehensive English-language guide to culture in Slovenia, aimed at both cultural professionals and the general public.
In 2009 the Ministry of Culture initiated its own cultural portal for international co-operation with Slovenia called Culture.si. A flexible public database for the needs of cultural sphere built with semantic web principles, using open source and open formats, has been developed by Ljudmila - Ljubljana Digital Media Lab team.
Wikipedia in English has over 3 million articles but not many of them are related to culture in/from Slovenia. Please, contribute! You can copy and adapt facts or texts from Culture.si by simply acknowledging the source (Culture.si, Ministry of Culture).
